My name is Keisha, and my healing journey began when I found out who my biological father was at age 30. Growing up, the man I thought was my father was not around, so I have always seen myself as a "fatherless" child. I have dealt with many different emotions and behaviors from finding out such pertinent information. My healing journey consists of rivers, mountains, depression, and addiction. I had to learn myself all over again, and I chose myself this time. Understanding how to regulate the many emotions I went through was a challenging task.
I chose to begin counseling and painting as self-therapy to heal the inner child in me. I had to address my triggers and history and hold myself accountable. I had to forgive not only people or things I could not change but also myself. I chose to create journals and started journaling to express my feelings and sit with them. Reading, music, and painting are the other healing mechanisms I utilize during this journey. I am working on my first novel, which will be published in 2024.
I currently serve on the NAMI Northern Illinois board. My purpose is to help individuals who have experienced trauma and struggle with self-identity or mental health issues be able to identify and process their emotions to heal with courage and grace.
I understand that every person has unique needs and goals. That's why I take a personalized approach to every person I work with.
I offer a wide range of speaking or hosting painting sessions.
